Painting # 76. I had been meaning to paint this one for a while with the intention of it being a Christmas gift for my parents. I took my time with it and it was an enjoyable experience overall. I was able to test out some new brushes and tried a new dagger brush I bought recently to make the evergreen. I also added two levels of highlights - light blue and then pure white to create the illusion of snow. Overall, this took me just about 3 hours from start to finish and I was pretty happy with it in the end, which is a rare experience for me. 18x24.
Love this! Great work.
Great painting. Absolutely love those foreground trees.
Wow! This turned out great! I like the softness all the way around the edges. Really draws your eyes in to all the great details you created.
Thank you for the nice comments, everyone. I am quite pleased with how this one turned out. I think this is the first time I experience that feeling. However, I am still able to remain objective and pick out various little things here and there I could improve upon, which is so important for growth. It is quite motivating, though. I'm glad I decided to try and branch out and attempt different techniques to paint bushes/trees with different brushes. The dagger brush really works wonders for the evergreens. I just never had much success with the fan brush.
Great job! Every bit of this is just fantastic. Wish my own version turned out so well!
