Only a basic exercise since I wanted to experiment here with paint thinner on liquid clear. That went more or less okay for the leaves yet the tree trunks were giantesque and I decided to camouflage most of them. The canvas was too small to paint a descent hedge.
Canvas used was a high quality 10"x12".
Would've loved I had more fun painting this!
Thank you very much Nivek, I feel much more happier that you are happy with this one!
Voy the rebel in me wants to go make snow angels in those perfect patches of snow you created!
Rooaaaarrrr, make room for me .... rebel!
Great winter scene! I love the challenge of painting and experimenting on small canvases, and you nailed this one.
Thanks for cheering GMRII
I does take quite some adjusting since you need to use different brushes and you have less room to play with. Setting the scenery up needs more structure on smaller canvasses!
That’s an interesting effect using the clear and thinner on the leaves to push them into the distance.
Yes indeed Fvg, and Bob used this to draw trees as well yet .... they came out way too big for me. I used a nr. 0 scriptliner but probably too much thinner. In the center, you can still spot some of the way to thick trunks. There are several paintings where he uses this spray technique.
I hadn’t run across Bob using the thinner splash on trees. I’ll have to try it some day. I watched a bit of the video to see his use on the tree trunks and limbs. I’d definitely need a finer liner brush.
I can recommend the Davinci nr. 0 script liner. It is the one I always use. It was so great that I ordered three extra of those! They are three times cheaper then Bob's as well.
'Daisy delight' (S11E3) and 'winter at the farm' (S27E5) are two others where he uses this technique.

I love everything about this Voy. The subtle sky and those distant trees, the way the focal point of the sky shows the powerful silhouette of the single tree, the big tree is beautiful with the old picket fence showing the lay of the land and of course the snow, I love snow me! 😁
