I used a YouTube video I found as a guide for my first ever oil pastel artwork. The tree is graphite pencil and the flowers is thinned out oil paint. I had a lot of fun with this and will be working more with the pastels I think.
Wow! Pastel! I am speechless. I have so many stupid superstitions. I would never have imagined that pastel can behave like this. Does it need some special paper?
Sunnylady, I'm using just a mixed media paper. I have new paper to try this week which is a bit smoother but still should give enough grip for the pastels.
Thank you!
@wybnormal: i have one more question - will it be okay if I use brown heavy duty wrapping paper for painting pastels? I have pastels from old times but I do not have paper and I just got a package with that paper used to wrap the main object. It has very rough texture.

Sure.. but the rough texture will prevent from getting a smooth blend of the pastels. Its a fine line between too rough and too smooth. The pastels need some tooth to grip but not chunks which will prevent the blending. Assuming you want that.. some artist prefer the rougher look
This is a beautiful painting!
Thank you! I did not know that! I will certainly try I am intrigued by pastels.

VERY creative! I've done the 4 seasons early this year with 4 paintings, thus 4 trees, but I like your version better!!
