Oil on canvas | 11”x14” | A few weeks ago, I was taking some yard brush to my wife’s parents’ house to dispose of it and I paused for a moment to soak in the view overlooking the valley. My father-in-law is fighting cancer, and he told my wife that he needs to keep working because his soul needs to be in the cornfields. For a few moments, I had a glimpse into that peace.
From a technical perspective, I decided to replace my sap green with chrome oxide and cadmium yellow medium hue with yellow ochre. I may occasionally jump back to those more saturated pigments, but I’m really enjoying the earthiness of these new paints.
Thank you!
Your color and house theme reminded me about this great painting. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christina%27s_World
