Watercolor on paper | 6"x9" | I've really been working on trying to balance value levels and color. Although a larger palette can create more realness and ease (not having to mix colors), using only three really pushes me to figure out how to establish value relationships. This quick sketch utilized only phthalo turquoise, alizarin crimson, and lemon yellow. I couldn't achieve the exact color I was going for with this palette, especially with darks, but the "purple" shadow in contrast to the yellowish grass did help create some of the same effects even if I couldn't achieve the color I wanted.
Haha! Yes it’s supposed to be a close-up.
