Oil on canvas | 8”x10” | This is a study from a photo. I used my solvent-free/zinc white liquid white couch to start. I actually then let the painting sit for a few days after painting the underpainting and then revisited to focus on shadows and highlights. I prefer doing this all in one sitting, but it was easier to get crisp highlights after the underpainting was mostly dry.
Thank you, dracula! We'll see how it dries as time goes on. I'm a little concerned that letting it sit for a few days will cause the first layer to dry at a different rate than the top layer. I don't exactly know how the "fat over lean" principle works with this time frame and this method.
