Watercolor on paper | 9”x12” | This was my reflection on the biblical saying, “Blessed are the poor.” The bowl symbolizes the lack of possessions and yet how the empty bowl experiences warming light shining onto it and showing the inherent beauty of something (or someone) despite its inherent worth. I usually use a limited palette in most of my work, but I was particularly pleased with the variety I was able to produce with just Payne’s gray, burnt sienna, phthalo turquoise, ultramarine blue, and lemon yellow.
