Painting # 73. I wanted to paint a cold winter night scene today. It had also been a while since I painted a big mountain. The idea was also to test out these smaller brushes I recently purchased and make snow-covered bushes and trees. In the end, these mountains really got away from me big time. I ended up just covering the entire canvas with mountains and tapping a bit of the titanium white at the base of them with the 1 inch brush in order to create the illusion of snowy trees going up the mountain. At the very bottom, I used my new small brushes to make some small foothills, but I didn't have much room. Overall, this took 2 hours. The trick of spreading out the titanium white on cardboard before using it to create mountain highlights continues to work quite well. 18x24.
Absolutely fantastic mountains!
I really enjoy the stark lighting of this cold, moonlit night. Great stuff!
