This is just a pencil drawing on some sketch paper. I followed a YouTube tutorial. Yesterday I tried to paint Bob Ross, season 21, episode 2 and it was a complete and utter disaster. I ended up scraping all the paint off the canvas. So this was my “get back on the horse” drawing without spending all the time to set up to paint. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out and ready to try painting again this coming weekend.
Thanks Voy Kay! I’m pretty happy with how it turned out and I think it’s what I needed to re-instill some confidence after the painting debacle Sunday.
Thanks Tom! I appreciate the compliment!
This is amazing!!
It is an amazing drawing! Very impressive!
Great job! It’s very realistic.
Thank you, MHK, Sunnylady, and ForestVue for your kind words. You all make me feel very encouraged.
Absolutely gorgeous! Don't doubt your talent for one minute. If I can do a Bob Ross, anybody can, just have another go.
The expression of light reflected in the eyes is wonderful.
As you could draw wonderful work with pencil drawings, I bet that
you can surely paint even more wonderful works with oil .
Thank you @TheLandscapePainter and @Jin7. I am going to give it another go this weekend, hopefully (time allowing). Drawing is easier in the fact that I don't have to set up/clean up much, and can stop at any point and come back to it later without too much worry. Before I started painting when all the shelter in place stuff started happening, I had never tried anything art related at all, so I know I will get better with practice.
L'occio mi guarda..Wow,fantastic!
Thank you Pietro!
Hi mate found you love your picture . Finding my way round a bit now .
Hi Steve! Yay! Great to hear it! Look forward to seeing more of your work here!
Very nice!
Wow I don’t know how I never saw this before. This is absolutely stunning! I can’t draw worth beans and I think it’s funny how some people find drawing much easier than painting but I think it’s 10000x more difficult. The detail is fantastic and I’m still trying to figure out how you did the light reflecting in the eye. I’d love to see more sketch work from you - you are extremely talented!
Thanks Lightsnow. Thanks Lilikins! That’s very kind of you. I think sometimes when I lot of paintings are posted in very close proximity to each other, the older ones tend to get buried and not seen. I know if I go a day or two without looking at new postings it takes me a while to scroll through them all so I don’t miss any. As far as the light reflection, it’s basically the absence of shading that makes it look that way, and paying close attention to angles when shading, so the eye looks round. I followed a YouTube tutorial for this, because I honestly have no clue how to draw lol. This took me about an hour to do. Maybe need some more drawings in my future!
That is really good it just looks like a photograph made a cracking job at that.
Thanks Steve!
My goodness! I've tried to draw eyes and not done well. This is remarkable!
Thank you wickedpossum. I followed a YouTube video, and it took me about an hour to draw. I had never really drawn or painted before the pandemic, so this is all new to me.
I wasn't particularly artistic until the pandemic myself. Sometimes these things have silver linings.

A real eye catcher Doggymom! The iris is so real and I feel the eye could blink at me at any second!
