Elephants at Sunset

This was my first attempt with this background I found off of Pinterest. I liked it much better than my second try up until the trees got a mind of their own and took over the painting. This painting is for my uncle (he specifically asked for something with elephants). Having only done half a dozen paintings (and all wet on wet paint alongs with Bob), I had NO idea where to even begin with an elephant. So, I cheated. Sunset silhouette, problem solved! I just wish the trees had not taken over the painting, lost most of my sunset, and the farthest layer of hills. Oh well, my uncle was super excited, he can't wait to put it up on his wall, and it was good experience working on blending a sunset.
