My first plein-air. I tried to investigate cobalt blue and its capabilities. Overall I am not satisfied as it fully changed the mood. Ultraviolet would be way better here.
Also I used pinen witn very small amount of linseed oil. That was a mistake. First of all panel pulls oil like crazy and secondly it is was burden by stupid choice of liquid.
Take away: more linseed oil needed and better brush selection needed if I want to loosen up.
Home work: repeat the same scene with ultramarine.
I also forgot to ask how big is it?
The sky & clouds are great! Love the top of the structure-what color did you use? Also, what highlight color in foreground tree? Composition & depth awesome!!
@LJM: this is small piece A4 or normal size 8.5ish by 11ish inches.
Thanks very much for your kind words!
@MHK - thanks a lot! This sky was the tough thing to do because of the absorption and evaporation of the media. I had to use finger to smudge the edges and a lot of pressure.
Let me try to remember: the roof is gold. However of course I dont know how to paint gold. So base tone is vandyk brown+cad yelliw+cad red. Highlight was all of that with more yellow, but also a touch of white.
Tree: highlight phtalo green+cad yellow+cad red+ titanium white. Base: phtalo green+VDB+cobalt blue+alizarine crimson.
@MHK: one note that I forgot to mention. Shadows in the grass would be leaning towards opposite color on the color wheel from the light conditions. Here sky is blue, so shadows are brownish. If sky is yellow/orange at sunset - shadows would be purple/blue.
@LJM: This is church on the bank of the river. Here is the photo, but from the different angle.

@doggymommee8301 : thank you very much for your kind words. I consider myself a beginner too. It is important for me to keep learning. I think plein-air showed me that I need to improve my observation skills. :)
