Original Creation

Mt. Rainier

My son lives in the Olympia Washington area. When they take the dog for a walk they go up a driveway to the top of a hill. From there they can take a perfect picture of Mt. Rainier in all it's glory. At this point it is about 60 miles from their house. My daughter-in-law sent me a photo she took of it the other day. I used her photo to paint Mt. Rainier as I vision it. Of course it is much further away in the photo than the painting. Thought I would add a tree line, small lake, some fir trees, and a small grassy area with wildflowers. I used the palette knife fairly extensively for the mountain trying to get the glaciers, rocks, different tones and such. It is an 18 x 24 inch canvas, with liquid white as a base. Thought I would paint the grassy/flower area a little different than the Bob Ross style.
