A simplified version of Bram Bevins tutorial "Blood Moon Falls".
12x12 inch black canvas. Acrylic: White and grey gesso. Oils: Liquid White, Alizarin Crimson, Mountain Mix.
Bram's original was on a rectangular canvas and included a river and waterfall at the bottom. I used a square canvas and left the waterwall out. The moon is an underpainting in gesso on a black canvas. The trees are mountain mix. Bram highlighted his trees, but I prefer how they look in silhouette. The moon needs to be the star of the picture.
Your moon IS the star, very well done

You're right, the moon does need to be the focus in the painting and you've achieved it really well. I like your silhouette version. These celestial paintings are real joy aren't they. My moon is a Viktor Yushkevich.
