Original work attached- artist terry Harrison.
Completed by following a tutorial book. Unfortunately the paper curled because I didn’t properly secure the paper but it’s mostly at the top and that’s my least favorite part anyways. The shadows and the leaves gave me problems but I like how the stone door and flowerpots turned out.
I also used masking fluid for the first time to block out the flowers. Interesting stuff! It’s like rubber glue - my poor brush didn’t like it though. Rip cheap brush.
It is a beautiful painting! Good luck with your watercolor adventure! You have done first steps, I am sure that door will open the big world in front.
Thanks everyone! This has been an interesting adventure into watercolors. I miss being able to just paint over mistakes like I do with acrylic.
Tom yes I’m using cheap paper I found on sale for $5. Guilty as charged 😂 I went with the canson 140lb cold press paper because it was on sale and I wasn’t sure I would like or could do watercolors. It does alright for wet on dry but it does not withstand washes well.
I was really shocked to learn this was a watercolor! Very well done, it feels like a fairy tale.
I love this Lillikins, with your blessing i would like to do this in oils?
Hey tel! Knock yourself out! This one wasn’t an original it was a tutorial booklet. But even originals I don’t care if anyone does them. The more the merrier! It is a pretty backdrop. I can’t wait to see your oil version!
Tel when I get off work in a couple hours I will post the original artists work so you can see what it was supposed to look like. I should have credited the artist too. Woops! I will edit when I get home.
Lovely...but i prefer yours!
Aw tel you flatterer! I might try this again someday on nicer paper or maybe in acrylics. It is a pretty design. The stonework was a lot of fun.
great job!a gateway to tranquil dwelling.
