I just loved this composition so had to try it! Painted on a 16x20 canvas. I really had fun texturizing the sand and placing rocks. I used a mahl stick for the birds; it was hard for me to get the intended two-tone effect on the seagulls with my liner but tried my best. Also decided to use the filbert on my ginormous rock, as I didn't have much luck with the palette knife (scraped off the first attempt and tried again!).

Thank you so much Txing!😊 In his tutorial, Nic used a palette knife and fan brush flicking motion off of it to speckle the canvas. I practiced on some canvas paper before trying on the actual painting, so I could have a better chance of passing the bravery test!

You’re correct Regan, it is on PBS in the US. I’m not sure about outside the US. But it’s featured in the Joy of Painting Series 32 Book with Nic Hankins; maybe that’s available for those not in the US?
