10x14" canvas with black acrylic base, covered with liquid clear. Lightning not as crisp as I would like but not bad for a "quickie" session. Thanks for the inspiration DavidF.
Ha! I was just thinking about lightning this morning. Looks tough to do.
This is cool!
Looks great for a first shot at this difficult subject. Well done John, cheers

Hi docluv2run.. firstly I love your painting.. I think your sky and overall composition is excellent and I like your trees and landscape better than mine... The lightning is good .. I watched a lot of videos by a couple of people on how to increase the contrast up in acrylics and oils ... I will check the names of the people but I remember one of them was Jerry Yarnell, I also bought his book. The other one was Chuck Black , He has some you tube videos his sunsets are absolutely incredible and well worth looking for contrast generation. Its a slow process to build up contrast and oils are easier than acrylics in my opinion. Focussing on increasing contrast will further enhance your painting I believe but I am not really qualified to comment really. Overall a really great job, and remember what bob said you have to have the dark to see the light !! I think he had it right .. Happy painting to you and enjoy the journey all the best David
