I thought after my experiments with the wood grain effect, it would be worth a try to paint a concrete look. Just a different background for painting or decoration . So I researched one or the other and tried to find helpful videos. However, there was not much useful. Structural pastes ,concrete pastes for spatula etc. and so I did my experiments with oil paints, thinner similar to the wood effect. It was important to me to create a smooth surface that is suitable for further painting.and no rough structured because I would also like to be able to use it as a background. . The biggest challenge was to match the colors, assess them and create depth despite the smooth surface..This industrial look is not super spectacular but I like the cool, clear design. This is now my concrete look, smooth without structure and excellent to use as a background for paintings. As always totally fresh from 40 minutes ago. You decide if you like it. I hope the work was worth it.
The second picture below is after one day drying.
Canvasboard 24 x 30 cm (9.45. x 11.80 inch), white gesso, acrylic paint, oil paint, liquid clear, Paintthinner,Sandpaper 200/400, fanbrush, 1 inch brush time ,1.5 hours plus grindig and drying time.
Thank you very much, Rucifi. I wanted to create an alternative to my wood effects that has a cooler look. I think it can fit very well for one or the other painting. Greetngs from GermanyππΌπ©πͺ
Awesome concrete effect! Such a great job!
Good evening. Sandy. I wanted to create an alternative for the background. Glad you like itππΌπ©πͺ
This is a great look. I can see so many uses. I like odd contrasts. I'm thinking floral on concrete!
Very cool! When my son was little, we bought him driveway chalk and he made some beautiful art work. I wish I could have kept more than a photo. Now, maybe Iβll use a photo to recreate a memory of him.
Really nice Dirk! You could use it in a still life or a wall on a building. ππΊπΈπ©πͺ
Nailed it! π―

Good Morning,Dave . Glad you like ., Greetngs to Bargara ππΌπ©πͺ
Yes that looks really nice, you could paint a landscape on it. Or a cityscape even.
Hey Tom , ich beobachte es und im trocknen kommt noch mehr tiefe . Hat im Original einen grau beige Ton . City scape is a great idea. ππΌπ©πͺπ¦πΉ
I can tell you spent much time and put a lot of thought in to this. I don't think many people have taken the time to stop and appreciate concrete in this way. Since you appear to have a knack for replicating materials, may I suggest marble or granite next? I look forward to your next project!
Hey Jeff. First of all, thank you very much. I take this as a motivating compliment and yes it is time-consuming and certainly too time-consuming for many people but it can give the painting that certain extra kick. Should I start the next experiments, I'm thinking of your suggestion, marble / granite. But next I will conjure up a painting on one of the wood effects πππΌπ©πͺGreeetings from Germany
Great effect , Dirk.
It'll work well for a background. <3
I also think this will work for both more industrial type scenes (buildings and stuff, especially abandoned and derelict) and natural environments a la Bob Ross.
Guten Abend,Titia und GrΓΌΓe aus NRW.iFirst and foremost, I wanted to create an alternative to the wood effects I painted last week. I also think of industrial style or Buildings or city silhouettes. Let's see where it takes me . Thank you for your motivating words ππΌπ©πͺ
