When you grow up?....if i may enquire your age?
No, i rarely follow Bobs tutorials anymore but when i would i usually added or changed something just to make it my own.
I think that even attempting a identical copy in every detail would be very hard, Bobs style was unique even when comparing him to Bill alexander.
What is your goal?
I'm 60 and will never grow up Tel!
tel I'm 60 and I hope I never grow up. I use that phrase (all the time) to mean that I have developed fully in whatever I'm trying to do.
Your changes are uniquely Tel. Always interesting!

My objective is to paint unique paintings in any style I like, with any medium available except watercolors and markers (not my cup of tea). My objective to start selling, but my plan before the first exhibition for sale is to produce those 40-50 unique pieces that I would want to exhibit and couple of marine painter inspired works.
My quality criteria: a solid composition and color management.
I want to keep painting for next 30-40 years. (hopefully, I am almost 40 now).
I want to become good enough to make a happy buck here and there to subsidize my retirement.
Sunnylady What a fabulous goal. You have the knowledge and skill to achieve it!
rtparsjr Looks like you're on your way RT!

I always liked landscape paintings in all different kind of forms. But I started to paint only for one reason: I have a very stressful technical job and I searched for a hobby which brings my thoughts down. A hobby which makes me forget everything around me. Thats why I started and why I still continue.
No more reason else is there, if some people want to buy something from me I am of course pleased but if not it is also ok.
And I did not find any other hobby which relaxes me more.
So my goal is: continue painting and enjoying it!
Tom0779 I totally understand that perspective on painting. I have always found creativity to be a great stress reliever.
PeterA I love that Peter. Individuality is awesome.
My goal is to continue to enjoy every minute spent painting while trying to create something that I find appealing and to develop my own style.
Cronenberg89 I like that goal. You are killing it.
I think my goal in 2024 is to try to be more consistent with painting on a regular basis. I am challenged with living with a disabled partner and don't regularly have long stretches of time (or emotional capacity) to paint, which contributes to a continued feeling of guilt that seems to sap the creativity spirit in me.
BUT, when I find the energy and inspiration, I love the feeling of accomplishment in completing a piece and to the satisfaction to my inner (critical) artist. And recently, with my works in an art gallery (and slowly selling!), it is quite affirming to see other people enjoy my work.
Great inspirational story!
Great question Tomi! I Love painting Bob's. His style is so pleasing for the eye. As you have seen, I really enjoy adding little elements of interest in each of the recreations I do from him.
I want to keep challenging myself even more in 2024. I would like to explore more "realism" style. It mesmerizes me so much. I also will take my BR certification. I want to share the JOP with anyone that wants to learn how to paint. Bob and BA's technique really works and I believe it's one of the easiest oil painting method out there.
Maybe start selling my compositions. So many people ask me. I think it's time.
At the end of the day, I'll also echo what you said; "I would like to produce something visually pleasing"!
