Wanted to do a something different today so thought I'd try one of the wood grain effects paintings. I'm not a big fan of doing mountains. I just don't think I'm very good at them. But these turned out so nice I didn't have the heart to put the evergreens in front of them. So I put in the cabin and path on the left.
I think I also would not have had the heart. You really nailed this!
Thanks. Much appreciated
It's beautiful. Your wood effect looks so realistic.
And I love that you didn't paint the sky. I didn't really like this one of bob's paintings but now I just migt steal your idea 😳😉
Hey Matt, this is REALLY, REALLY effective as a way of framing the central content of your painting. The contrast draws the eye straight in and focuses the eye very quickly. This would be worth exploring in other paintings as well. Love it.
Great, it seems 3 dimensional
Thanks U, Dave, and Joha! And Dave, I might try this with a seascape and use a driftwood effect. Bob mentioned that in this particular video and I do think a seascape would look great with the wood effect.
And U, I liked the way Bob left out the sky on his other woodgrain painting so figured no reason I couldn't leave it out here.
I’ll look forward to seeing it Matt.
I just love this, the wood grain effect is spot on! I thought that you painted it on wood like Voy’s paint box. Extra primo good!
Hehe thanks Brian :-)

Beautiful. Love the mountains, evergreens, and reflections.
