Painted on 9 X 7 bass wood board bought at a local arts & crafts store. Four layers of gesso to prevent absorption of the oil. Painter’s tape around the edges trimmed with scapel.

Lovely! Did you use clear or white gesso?
Gesso is white acrylic paint that is used to prevent the wood from absorbing the oil paint.
I painted it without using liquid clear or white since it’s such a small scale. Dry painting is definitely not Bob’s style; but his other techniques were applied.

That's what I call impressive! The way you have worked on the outer edge of the wood is fabulous, I really did think it was a slice of tree trunk. And the painting itself is pretty and moody at the same time. A great creation.
