Mountain in an Oval

LoriEC 28 Nov 2020

Saw someone use this grid on another painting and thought I’d try it instead of the oval. I really like the effect. Finally got the white to break on my mountains. Sky gave me the biggest challenge in this painting.

The sky looks amazing!

Thank you! I think it took longer to paint than the rest of the picture. I was trying not to become a mud mixer and had trouble getting the layers to look right. It was definitely a learning experience.

I am a SLOW painter. I tried to keep up with Bob in the beginning, and stuff never turned out very good. I find that if I take my time, I am a lot happier with the outcome.

I generally don’t try to follow along with Bob. I get frustrated because I just can’t keep up with him. I will watch the video once or twice and when I feel comfortable I just look at the picture for guidance. If I am unsure about a certain item or color usage I may look at the video just for that information. Seems to work much better that way.

I do the same, watch it a couple times. Though I do play it while I’m painting, just pause it a lot.
