This is my second attempt painting on a cedar slab. I went with a brighter sky color hoping it all wouldn’t be too dark. I’ve got to learn to use a knife on a hard surface. No luck so far for snow. I do like the challenge of the oddly shaped wood.
Thank you so much! The key to this tons of green painting had to be the highlights. I used Hansa Yellow Light with the greens for a brighter effect. The hard surface seems to work better for the bushes and trees. No give so less danger of the brush sliding.
On to the next! 😉
That's a great tip! My cad yellow is about empty and the next is lemon yellow (something brighter). Will love to see what effects that will give!
This is really neat! I love all of the bright, vibrant colors. I'd love to see how this is displayed.
Thank you! I have it sitting on a stand on the floor and it looks pretty good. It’s 1 1/2” thick so pretty heavy but could be hung. My husband cut a few hundred slices on his sawmill that I believe may last me the rest of my days 😂.
That's awesome! You could totally sell these! Too bad I am not still dating the almond orchard farmer! Had all the firewood for camping I could ever need, and it would've been cool to create some paintings on the wood too. Ah well, lol. I certainly look forward to more of these creations from you!

I love this! Look at that tree on the left, like the wood was shaped for it!
That grass and the bushes do so much for this painting and its vibrant coloring!!
Great stuff FVG!!
