Pastel Seascape

KJ 08 Aug 2020

This painting was a definite challenge for me. I did this in acyrlics. I read other artist's posts about this one being harder than expected. This was true for me also. Of course with acrylic, there is not a soft blending to the clouds. This was the first wave I've tried with acrylic and that ended up decent. The front however, was a whole different story. I misplaced my crashing wave a bit so I had to make a bigger sand dune. I could not get a proper perspective on making a tiered sand dune. I watched Bob on video and looked at other paintings on this site. I could not get it to work. My husband suggested one big sand dune with vegetation. I went with it! This is a 16 X 20 canvas .

I like the approach you took for the sky. The delineation of colors makes it very easy to read. Good work!

Thank you Dracula! Not my best work - just experimenting with acrylics. I've been used to Bob's wet on wet technique for about 15 years. Oils always look better to me! The artwork you have uploaded to this site is excellent - a cut above most!

I love it, I work with acrylic so I hear you its not, as Dracula said the colors makes it very easy to read. Dracula's work is very beautiful always.

Thanks paintcrazy! I've worked more with acrylic since this painting and I do enjoy it, but still easier for me with oil!! Happy Painting!
