Haven in the Valley

JCzekaj 05 Jul 2020

More of an “inspired by” rendition lol where do I begin, first didn’t put enough liquid white on the canvas, didn’t do anything different from my normal process but it dried very quick. May be because I had the A/C cranked up all the way. Got the sky and water in, decided it wasn’t going to work without liquid white, got rid of as much paint on the canvas as I could, threw some liquid white over top of it, and away we went. My 10 knife snapped in half, halfway through the mountain snow application so finished those with the small knife. Attempted to recreate the oval brush but with a 1” landscape brush. Failed. Put a line of evergreens over them and just did my own thing partially listening to the Ross video. Learned ALOT of problem solving with this one.

Very well done. This painting looks great! I've also snapped knives (both of the Ross brand ones, mind you). It's nice to read that you were able to problem solve in the moment and rectify the situation. That's oftentimes how we learn our most valuable lessons as human beings. Overall, I'd say it paid off, both in lessons learned and a fantastic painting produced. Congrats!

This is very nice. So clear in details. Love the little house too.

Really like everything about this one!! The sky is super fun, mountains look great and the layering of the trees is excellent. Cabin and path look great too!
