Maybe this is cheating, as this painting was actually made by my 12-year-old goddaughter!
I was looking for a Christmas gift for her, and then I suddenly heard about Bob Ross. So I thought I'd give it a try. And here we are! We spent a wonderful afternoon together, I've also uploaded mine. Our paintings are very similar yet very different at the same time - or how doing exactly the same thing can have a totally different outcome.
I think she did very well! Especially considering she's only twelve and this is her very first oil painting. Not many kids of that age would have the patience to paint for five hours. And she wants to make more paintings!
In the end, we decided to drop the bushes in the bottom right corner, because we felt the composition was nicer without them - less is more!
Your daughter did VERY well. The sky, water and mountains are really a pleasure to look at! Hope she will get the painting virus now and create some more! :)
Thank you both, I couldn't agree more with both of you!
Look at that light in the mountains! She caught it! Not many adults do it! It is wonderful painting! Your daughter has something naturally to build on! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Sunnylady! I have the impression that children and adolescents paint much more "from the gut", an artistic quality that we tend to lose over the years and that we should try to find again.

I really enjoy the lovely soft quality of the light and the bold strokes in the mountains. Good work!
