Blue Winter

dracula 24 Nov 2019

I have been trying to look for ways to better transition background to foreground, particularly in compositions where there are mountains in the mix. This one seemed a good choice for practicing just that. The tiny trees running up the mountain scale forward more fluidly than in many other Joy of Painting compositions. Additionally, it was fun working with such an intensely limited palette.

I really like the trees both in the foreground and how they fade in the background. The depth is great and the overall softness of the painting. It makes me feel like it would be lightly snowing if I was standing there. Great job!

I have to agree with the last comment, this one of the best I've seen.

Wonderful painting. You mountains are so intense and I believe they are better then Bob's for this painting.
