Rollin Hills. I liked this one because of the hills in the background. The front row of bushes at the edge of the pond didn't turn out as expected, so I put some tall grasses and stuff in front to somewhat mask them. I dunno. Watchin Bob's episodes leads me to believe that he either puts thinner in his paints before putting the highlights on and not showing it on video (I know he always says thin sticks to thick and does show mixing liquid white in now and then) because the paint always looks quite thin when he's mixing colors together especially the green and yellow...or...the paints he used were of a different consistency compared to todays. I use mostly his brand, but have been searching elsewhere and trying different paints lately. Anyway, it looks decent enough I guess.
Thank you Dirk...much appreciated!
Very good and love the reflections. βοΈ
Very pretty!
Nice work on this scene. I agree that the BRI yellows/green sold today are likely thicker than we see on the videos (or they were thinned further by Bob). There's a delicate balance to strike on viscosity: too thin, and you get mushy highlights; too thick, and it won't stick.
My BR paint is sometimes too thick coming out of the tube so I work a pile of it on the pallete with the knife which I find softens it a lot without having to add anything. Also, have you noticed that what Bob calls a "clean dry brush" actually has paint thinner in it! Things aren't always what they seem! Your painting turned out very pretty.
Yes LandscapePainter. When he "beats the devil" out of the brush and then says it's a clean dry brush and uses it right away there still has to be paint thinner in it. When I clean mine I REALLY REALLY clean it, more than what I think Bob does. I don't rap it against anything but use towels and such and get as much cleaner off it as I can. Even then I can still feel thinner on it. But he still effortlessly makes it work...unlike me...LOL...
