Towering Peaks

Well, still getting the hang of putting highlights on bushes and trees without making mud. I follow Bobs directions, or think I do (hahaha), and somehow the bushes and trees just don't work out. I scraped the whole lower left side off and redid it. Using the palette knife for the path was a pain but I'm not giving up. I thin the paint with liquid white and try to just "touch" the brush to the canvas for highlights, but still mange to mud it up. Sometimes I wait a day or 2 till the paint firms up for the highlights which does help. I may do this one over and concentrate more on the trees and such. What a learning process this is!

Mgiese84 Cleanest Technique In The Game

Not too bad at all. For the bushes and trees best advice I could give it put a good amount of highlight color on the bush and just lightly touch. Keep the brush moving (i.e. don’t just keep tapping in one spot). Also, what brush are you using? I find using the round brush is the easiest for highlighting bushes.

Some real good advice for me...thanks! I was using the 1 inch brush for the bushes, then I totally destroyed the left side and redid it. I think I'll try the round brush as you suggest and see what happens. Thank you so much for the input. I appreciate it!

I think these mountains, foothills, and trees are ALL great! I haven’t painted in a great while but man, never felt like I got the hang of bushes. Keep trying, I’m right behind you with the same struggles or worse!

Thanks for the compliments HLarson. Yeah, it sure takes a lot of practice for the shrubbery...I'm telling ya.
