The Magic of Fall

Turnbull 01 Nov 2024

Here is my version of "magic of fall". It turned out alright.
The background foliage turned out good, and the colors are fall-esq.
I just don't know what it is about the foreground tree..... I'm happy with the shadow I added, and the bark details but there is something "off" about the whole tree. I jumped ahead of Bob and made my path before he showed how to make the less obvious one and wish I would've waited to see his technique, but I still like it. I had to add the dead tree on the left to "balance" it because the left field felt kind of empty.
Overall, not my favorite, but colorful and quiet.

I think the tree itself looks good to my eye. My assessment: the fence may be throwing off the 'feel' of things in relation to the tree. I'm imagining standing in this scene, and it feels as though the fence may come up to my ankles. Without the tree, the fence would look correct, but it's the relationship between the two that does it. I hope this observation is welcomed, if not please let me know! My intention is to offer my opinion so that you do not feel alone on your journey! Cheers.

I think you’re right. I wanted a big ol’ grand tree, and a wider path but it looks more like a small fence rather than a large tree and wider walkway.
Thanks for pointing that out.
Appreciated.
