I don’t have real oil paints or brushes set up. I only have oil pastels. This was my first time following Bob Ross and my third oil pastel practice. I loved how Ross teaches, without having to scatch first, emphasizing on what he was trying to do in overall effects, and why. His voice was as serene and soothing as the landscape if not more!
I found it’s totally possible to do it with oil pastels, if enough is used to create the smooth misty shades. The water effects came out naturally when blending blue and white horizontally with fingers. It’s hard to blend the exact colors with oil pastels, so I just tried to pick close colors and blend in on cancas. I wish I could draw so many tree leaves with one brush punch. I had to do many dots with the oil pastels. I need to get better at making them more natural looking.
Just discovered this community today from recommendation by a friend. Looking forward to exploring more here and making more happy accidents!

Hello! The ripples on your water are very good. I'm not familiar with pastels so I can't give you any advice, but there are others here who may be able to give you some direction. You've made a great start, keep going.
