What makes this painting more difficult than it looks is because of how dark the whole thing is, I think...
Makes it difficult to get some contrast in there without ruining the atmosphere.
The book version is also quite different from the TV version and it has even less contrast, is darker (except for the middle) and has a softer look to it.
Bob says a couple of times that he makes colours brighter on TV so they "show up better on your set". I guess that's why the TV version has some more distinguished colours than in the book?
Anyway, I really like your rendition of the scene. <3
