Bright Autumn Trees

"Bright Autumn Trees"
July 27, 2024
Oil on canvas
60x40cm

And with this one I have completed the "Every Season" challenge. πŸ˜€

And I decided to add some extra images of the "work in progress" to describe the emotions I often go through when painting.
Do they sound familiar?

1. Okay, let's do this. It is totally gonna work.
2. Yikes! I've passed the first bravery test. πŸ˜€
3. Oh dear... what a mess... Happy accidents my behind. πŸ˜…
4. Hmm, perhaps it is going to work after all. Not sure yet though. Just keep going.
5. A few days after the painting has been completed: "Oh, it ain't half bad!" πŸ˜€

Such an accurate description of the mental process! Love your work in progress photos, it’s really helpful for a newbie like me to see how others work! Your trees are striking, well done!

Lol at mental process, very nice painting,

Wonderful, cannot imagine you ever doubt about the result!

Thank you Thomas.
And nice to hear those WIP screens are helpful.

Thank you Coldethel. <3

Thank you Jos.
And yes, I often doubt the outcome during the entier painting process. At some point or another.
I guess it is not a bad thing though, because it makes me look at the painting in a more critical way. Where should this or that go? Where to add more highlights. That sort of thing.

Btw, have any of you ever looked at your painting through your eyelashes?
It blurs your view so you can see the composition better: dark/light distribution, placement of the colours and objects, etc. It can help, especially, if you're like me, tend to get lost in the details.

Great painting Titia! The rocky path is beautiful. πŸ‘βœŒοΈ

Lovely painting and I really like the detail work on your path. And I’m right there with you as far as the thought process that goes along with the painting process!

Gorgeous!

Wonderful painting, Titia! Thanks for including the progression--really helps to see how others (far more elegantly, in this case) approached the same subject!

Very nice! And I agree with your hilarious description of a painting progressing! Actually some of my favorite paintings were "oh gosh yuk!" in the beginning.

Thank you all! <3
