"Wilderness Way"
June 14, 2024
Oil on canvas
50x40cm
The final episode of "The Joy of Painting". Or rather the final one with Bob.
I had fun making this one.
When I started I only had Titanium White, Indian Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Yellow, Bright Red and Phthalo Blue on my pallet.
That's how it always goes, I start with a couple of colours and then add when I need others. Not this time.
After I had finished the sky and had applied the purplish colour to the lower half of the canvas I decided to just keep using these more or less primary colours.
So all browns and blacks were made using the above mentioned colours.
A good colour-mixing challenge, as I had not done this in years.
Btw, I never use black.
I always mix my own black colours. They are more "alive" in my opinion.
(Except for black gesso)
And this episode is actually called "Wilderness Way", on both the Bob Ross youtube channel and in the books. :-)
