Day 2 - Landscape Fundamental
Beautiful warm and cold winter scene from Bob! π
I am happy with the blending of my sky. I told Nic I would put the orange of the sun glow (my fav color) in the water since it wasn't in the original scene. He absolutely loved the result. My cabin is bigger than it should have been. π I wanted to have a hint of crimson on the front of it mix with my browns to tie up with the alizarin in the sky and water. I will retouch the snow in front of my cabin (add contrast) and well as adding the one barely showing in my foreground as soon as I am done with my week. I don't have my brushes & paint at home (we leave all our supplies at the workshop).
Again, I learned some valuable little nuggets to sharpen my skills some more!
I would love ideas for an "add-on". What do you guys suggest? π€

I added a little snow bunny and a cardinal. He had to have some food. So I added little red berries in the tree.
Beautiful work.
Thank you Cold! π
Many thanks Yucel! π
All really nice. I especially like your work on the trees, bushes, and sticks. Enjoy the class!
Good Morning, Beauty, super blending and the glow is perfect. The mountains and the cabin are also top levelππΌπ©πͺ
Very nice!
So very gorgeous!! You are ready for your own studio!
Gorgeous!
I hope you get your own show soon! Joy of Painting with Nancy! I'd watch that. As for addons, how I can presume to give the queen of addons a suggestion for addons? Haha kidding, how about a bird sitting on a log? Or a fox in the bushes? Can't wait to see what you do.
BTW - is it hard to 'touch up' or add your addons several days later when everything is dry? Or do you find that makes things easier in some ways?
Another exceptional beauty!! The glow in the water gives extra warmth to the painting.
Excellent! My add on suggestion is a bunny. Itβs been super cold here in Minnesota this week and I still see bunnies huddled up outside.
Iβll be in New Smyrna Beach next week for seascapes! I enjoy seeing your posts from your time there.
Great job!
Lovely painting!
The yellowish reflection in the water is really nice. Works very well.
As for addons, all I can think of is a couple of birds sitting in the birches, waiting for the person who lives in that cabin to come out and feed them. It looks so wintery that there must not be all that much food to find for them.
Lisa!!! Thatβs really great! You will loooooove your experience! Iβd love to come meet you. Maybe I can stop by the gallery/workshop on Thursday or Friday.
And thank you for your message. I will add a bunny just for you. π
Thank you Jon! π
Many thanks my friend! π©πͺπ€
Thank you bunches Jimmy! βοΈ
Awww! You are super sweet Sandy! Thank you! π₯°
If youβre nearby, yes, come visit next week! It would be great to meet you!!
I will come by then. I already asked Nic if it was ok. He gave me βa warmβ green light! Lol! Looking forward to meeting you! π
Thank you very, very much Jeff! π₯° I def will add a birdie or fox along with a snow bunny (for Lisa, aka Mata0031).
It is a little more challenging to put an add on once dry indeed, but it is still very doable. If there is texture where you want to put it onto... I first trace my add-on very lightly with a pencil and then sandpaper the inside of it with a pointy corner of a folded sandpaper sheet. Once the texture is off, I put my stencil/template back on the painting and can start the process. If your painting is well dried, you can put painter's tape to hold your stencil in place. I have done this many times and it doesn't damage the composition a bit. Hope this help a little. Let me know if I can enlighten you furthermore. π
Thank you Elsie! βοΈ
Thank you much Pam! π I agree with you... A little more warmth is coming from the reflection of the glow in the water. Little things can make a significant difference! π
