This one has lots of similarities with Deep Woods (S16E7). Same nice fan brush technique to create the furthest bushes (purple).
I didnβt want to use contact paper. So I drew the oval on the canvas, stayed as close as possible to the edge blended it towards the outside and, at the very end, used liquid black to darken the corners. I will need to put another layer once dry without erasing the slightly blended oval edge. It gives a little βmistβ effect, matching the name of this painting. π

I added 2 little Sandhills cranes for more interest.
I usually don't like ovals, but this one rocks. Nice job!
Hi Nancy, this is beautiful as always, almost sepia on my screen, the black surround really adds to it, draws you in. ,ππ
Hopefully now I'm feeling a little better I can get the brushes or at least pens, out again π¨ποΈ
Hey Nancy, really wonderfully painted.ππΌπ©πͺ
really cool idea with the oval, nicely done
Love the oval technique. Lovely painting.
Hi Nancy - are the little grass sprigs made using a liner brush and thinner? I've tried this, but the color tends to thin out too much leaving a canvas-colored line behind instead of a nice spring (or twig).
Stunning!! Your water is wonderful! I just read that you drew your oval as well!! You did a way better job then I did.
Very nice N! Good job on the oval sans contact paper!
A wonderful masterpiece.
Thank you much Sandy!! π
Glad you like this type of oval Bob! That was a bravery test for me. But I wanted to do one this way for a long time.
Niv!!!!! I was gonna email you to check up on you! We were missing you! Thank you for your comment! π
Really looking forward to you next masterpiece! π¨πΌοΈ
Thank you bunches my friend! ππ©πͺ
Glad you like my idea Jeff! Kinda nice to do something slightly different!
Thank you much Tomi! π
Bob, I do use the liner brush & linseed oil to thin my paint. But paint thinner works as good. I believe you don't have enough paint on your brush. I spin & slide my liner into the thin paint at least 4-5 times to load it up properly and make it very sharp. I reload the same way every time I need to reapply paint to my brush. I will go over a twig/stick a few times over when my paint does what you describe, and I'll make sure to thicken my paint a little.
Awwww! Thank you so much Lc! π₯Ή
Thank you much B! It was the hardest thing to do to be honest. It was too easy to bring some of the liquid black into the painting. It would screw up the whole shape. I'd have to take it off, reapply the sky color on and re blend the edge again without making the same mistake. But I got it done.
Thank you very much Jin! π₯°
Great job!
Thanks Tom! βοΈ
