"Deep Forest Lake"
August 6, 2023
Oil on canvas
40x50 cm
This one has been on my radar for quite some time and I figured the "studio route" event would be a nice place to paint this one live.
I was a guest artist and was displaying some of my paintings in a tent I shared with someone else. In the past I have participated in what is called "painters festival" in the town my parents used to live in. At this festival we would be painting live. Later on less and less people would paint live though, but I've always liked doing it.
So when I decided to participate in this event I figured I might as well paint on the spot.
People commented they liked me doing it and that I was the only one along the route doing so.
Painted this one on the second day of the event.
I followed Bob's instructions with the gesso underpainting, and the trees and foliage in the background. I did however use the fan brush for the soft background foliage, instead of the big brushes. By the time I had painted all that I had a mysterious and dark atmosphere going which people liked very much. And so did I...
So as I progressed I tried to keep that atmosphere while at the same time adding some more stuff to the foreground.
The result is quite different from Bob's version, but hey! This is my world. :D
There's something about the water though...
It does not look completely level to me...
Great work
Thanks. <3
