The title doesn't completely fit with my version, because I skipped, as usual, the oval, but the mountains in this scene I wanted to pay attention to. Steve uses a little different technique for the shadows: he starts in the white, pushes a little bit upwards and then goes down to get some stripes in the paint and to avoid a simple mountain split in two. Maybe the size of this version is too small to see the effects. On canvasboard 24 x 30 cm.
Did you find Steve's technique to be easier/more effective? Because these shadows are very well done. I haven't tried one with Steve, but I find that I can never get Bob's technique to work very well for me.
Sheer excellence this painting Jos, and that in EVERY field!
You managed VERY well with such small canvas size. Imagine how this would look 45x60 cms!!
Love the mountains and your rocky riverbanks.
Thanks to all,
Tawny: technique of Steve differs in details, like shadows on mountaintops and he goes more up and down by setting up the highlights.
Voy: only my first Bob Ross painting was on 60-45 during a course, it was also the latest, now mostly on 30x24 sometimes 40x30

Really nice mountain and background trees. They all give great depth to the scene.
