My final painting of the year, so I thought I would do something that hopefully might herald the transition to an even more brilliant year ahead. I really enjoyed painting this final episode of Bob’s on my standard A3 sized light grey gessoed canvas using Bob’s pre-painting with 2 values of grey as well as black gesso. I used TW in the sky only outside of the boundaries of the mountain before pulling out and then put the more transparent Zinc White on the mountain itself. I’m very pleased with the effect achieved. I remembered and was able to at least partially achieve the grass technique highlighted by Voy earlier today. I’m very happy with the way this painting turned out and it was a great pleasure to paint. Here is wishing everyone a happy and above all safe New Year - for the whole year.
Beautiful painting! Happy New Year to you!
Wonderful blending in the sky Dave! Lovely and fluffy greens! my favorite - the trees on the left and the way you highlighted them very modestly by keeping major part dark as it is counter-light condition! Great brilliance of the sun area, the thought that some miracle is about to happen translates from this painting. Happy and Prosperous New Year to you too!
A very nice job here Dave! Here's to a happy new year!
I have to agree with my fellow painters here, you did very nice! Happy new year to you too
Many thanks Voy, Sandy, SL, Matt & SCD - your comments are very much appreciated. Your critiques help greatly in refining my techniques and choices. Cheers
Love the rays of sunlight breaking out over the mountain summit!
Thanks Brian, bit of a sparkler isn't it.
Exceptional background light. Those trees on the left and those two bushes in the right foreground are perfection.
Thank you TZ. You certainly have some great paintings in your Profile. Well done. Cheers

Dave, I need my sunglasses for this!! You did miracles with that sun, I so much like the effect!
Thanks for mentioning me there, hope you learned from that grass technique, it will be a very helpful companion through painting wonderland!
Best wishes for 2022 for you and your family, and till next one!
