I forgot to use BG on the bottom half initially and ended up scraping it and wiping down with thinner. (Never did that before) Applied the BG and finished the painting. 18x24
As an alternative option to wiping with thinner. You could lay a burnt sienna diluted 3-5 drops with OPT in a very thin layer and then to lay the foliage on top. Just after burn sienna done in this way - you would need to give it 30 min to sit so OPT(odorless paint thinner) evaporates and keeps that color underneath.
It would give you quite neutral shadows and some of the paint would still be mixed in modest quantity with highlight color and it would tie all the greenery in united color scheme.
Thanks to both of you Voy and Sunnylady. I will keep the burnt sienna and OPT tip in mind next time I screw up. (Shouldn’t have to wait long) lol
Oh come on. It was not a screw up - it was a learning curve that everything can be fixed, don't loose your heart about BG - it was a happy accident as Bob would say.

That colourhopping makes it a fantasy forest!
Sandy didn't use black gesso for this Brian, but liquid black (aka magic black). Still a nice effect though!
