A grand experiment. Using a blend of thalo blue and liquid clear for most of the sky, black gesso for the sky.. Knife work for the mountains.. white and linseed oil for the "flicked" stars. Trying different things and getting feel for painting space which I normally do with spray can. And, I did in fact use my newly purchased lighter fluid as my thinner with great success :D If you are wondering what the heck I'm talking about, I wrote up an article about the tribulations of getting deodorized mineral spirits here in SoCal.
Note.. its really hard to get a round planet with a big brush :D
Super cool! I nice that you created some haziness around orbits. Looks they have some atmosphere. I love that phtalo blue effect you created. It glows! Spiky mountains are so sharp! They look so out of Earth!

Have you tried fingerpainting for rounding the planets? Just an idea!
