Fantastic portrait as always. I only hope to one day reach this level of skill.

May I suggest something I noticed about some of your paintings that might improve them?

Great job!

Thank you both!
Felix, yes please I would love to hear your suggestion.

You obviously have the technical skill to paint anything in your paintings in great details. I think what would make your paintings even stronger is if you would carefully chose where you want to lead the viewers eyes and focus your details there, leaving less important parts with fewer details.

Good examples for this are the hands in this painting and the windows handles in the painting of your wife on the train. The hands in this painting are already really interesting shapes, and the reflections on the handles in the other painting are masterfully done.

Combined with the prominent position (in the middle in both paintings) they pull the viewer's attention away from the faces, which most of the time should be the stars of the show and the place where we want the viewer's eyes.

Very talented!

Felix thank you for the great advice. I didn’t even think about how some less important features have been placed in the middle that is a great observation. Also less detail on more background features is also ideal for sure. Since I don’t paint often I use the opportunity to practice with detail on alot of the different items, but for sure that is habit I will eventually have to get out of. Thanks again!

Thanks Stephanie!

If you'd like to see it in effect on one of your own paintings look at "Girl at the Market". The people in the background or the umbrella at the top are reduced to only shapes so the girl really can shine.

Although I also love the detail heavy work in "Poolside" and "Chilling".

The challenge is to decided wheter the painting profits off of more detail or not. But with your talent for painting I'm sure you'll have it soon figured out

This character is in your face! He almost looks 3D with his hands reaching out in front of him which is really clever.

I always enjoy your work and this is great! I can appreciate @Felix suggestions and agree with that application in some paintings. User @Marcostobasso does this with his portraits. I see that sometimes the hands are just blurred suggestions. What is amazing is that your eye will just fill in the missing detail, and it won't take the focus away from the face.
