Lowrys Piccadilly circus (with a few changes) ....Is Lowry one of the "old masters?"....well no, not really but he was certainly "old"
That looks quite a challenge Tel, buildings require a great deal of precision don't they. I particularly like your London buses. Great job, and a vote.
Every painting submitted for the event is just awesome! Tel your is another proof of that! How big is it? I see so much advertisement from those days! So much fun to look at it and try to relate to that time.
Thanks guys and thanks for the vote TLP. .....Sunny, this is on a 16" x 12", i think Lowry painted this in the 60s and the advertising is certainly of it's time. The irony i suppose is that Lowry was mocked in his earlier years for painting matchstalk figures in his paintings but i could never do them!....Take a look at TLP,s Lytham submission to see the correct way.
Thank tel!
I read Piccadilly Circus was painted in 1960 and in 2011 it sold for £5.6million. Do you feel a mild satisfaction that you have created something with some resemblance, or is it just me?
Yeah, resemblance is fair...as stated in my description there are a few changes but i am satisfied that i captured the essence of Lowrys original
