Where I live the northern lights are usually green and red curtains. I’m trying to make them pop but haven’t figure it out yet. Although I sure do enjoy trying.

Red and green are also, usually, the colours whenever we have Northern lights. Whici isn't often... and I have yet to see those curtains. Over here it often is just some colours in the sky.
I can imagine is being difficult to get that into a painting.
As for making Northern lights pop, Bob did two Northern lights paintings which might help with that.
