Acrylics on an 11 x 14 canvas>
Always good advice from Sunny. A diffused background like some of us are using for florals would work well I think. A very pretty cat, well done for capturing the expression on its face.
Found a good definition:
Simultaneous contrast refers to the way in which two different colors affect each other. The theory is that one color can change how we perceive the tone and hue of another when the two are placed side by side. The actual colors themselves don't change, but we see them as altered.
Simultaneous Contrast is the phenomenon in which the perceived color of an area of a scene tends to take on a hue opposite to that of the surrounding area. Thus a grey square on a red background will take on a greenish tint.
Not sure if you can open this link but try. I opened it through VPN by telling I am in Europe.

Cute cat indeed! Great job with fur and eyes! My favorite is her cute pink nose.
If you don’t mind - I think if you reduce saturation of background to the dirty pink and less details the cat will become focal point. There are 2 things happening at the same time with perception. Very busy background takes a lot of attention and because it is so bright/saturated and cat is grayish it creates simultaneous contrast. This makes cat look slightly green even in the real she is grayish. This how vision and brain work together about color perception.
