Painting # 91. Things have been pretty busy lately but I've been enjoying painting these more relaxed paintings. I think my favorite scenes to paint are deep forests, using oils over gesso underpaintings. It really creates a neat effect. I recall Bob claiming to enjoy the black paintings most. I'm also starting to become able to paint what I see in my mind without a reference. I think this is the first painting I did without consulting a photo or video. This took just about 2 hours overall. 16x20
This is beautiful. I like all the detail and varied shades of color in the bushes, and the great looking reflections in the water. The black border works well.
I love this. Especially like the depth created and the rocks. ✌️

I prefer to paint what I see in my mind, too. Trouble is I only ever see a polar bear in a snowstorm when I start. 😁
Seriously, I've tried numerous times to use someone else's painting, but I take a crazy turn somewhere, and I can't get back.
I'll bet it's really exciting to see it in your mind and have it turn out that way, isn't it?
I'm looking forward to being able to do that one day.
You have so much detail in this work. It's incredible. There's so much to look at. It would be a great piece to hang on the wall.
