Painting # 104. I've been trying to find more time to paint lately. This is the 2nd only painting I've produced in the past 8 months. I wanted to create something original but definitely felt lost at times as to where to go next. I guess that's what happens when one is dormant for a while. Overall, I wanted to create a scene that would allow me to try out my new Ross brushes including new 2 and 1 inch brushes as well as a new fan brush, script liner, and half sized oval. Night and day difference. The bristles on my old brushes are half the size. I can't believe I used to paint with those! These were so smooth. Adding highlights was actually working, relatively effortlessly. For the next painting I make, I'd really like to go back to roots and follow along to another episode of the joy of painting. A friend of mine told me this reminds him of camping spots we've been to, hence the name. 18x24.
I did not think that brushes would wear that much as you describe. Do you mind sharing the photo? I know that small size wears off quite fast when I use scrub in technique. Sometimes after 3 paintings i can see such wear and tear. But 100 paintings in milder BR technique is actually a big challenge that you brushes went through! I am sure you don’t beat devil out of them.
Wonderful to hear about the ease that new brushes allowed you to work !
