This is my first attempt at a Kevin Hill painting. This took me much longer to do than my previous paintings. Fortunately I’ve updated my solvent to gamsol and was able to paint inside sitting down much of the time. With the Kevin Hill technique I was able to use way less paint thinner/brush beating.
Except for the sky, nearly the whole painting was done on dry canvas with a #4 filbert brush and some knife work for tree trunks, and the 1” brush for the foreground foliage.
I like how the furthest mountain turned out. The closer mountain has a weird morphology as I just winged it and painted without any reference. I like how the big dead tree and the other dead trees turned out as I was able to get some much-needed “stick time” with the liner brush.
Congrats with going to the next level of challenge! Joking. Kevin tutorial give incredible boost into the knowledge of color mixing and using different approaches. Well done !
You are very talented. Such a beautiful painting.
Really beautiful and so love Kevin Hill!
This is a great composition Lazer! 🤩 Kevin has some amazing creations and you totally nailed this one.
I did 3 from Kevin and they do take longer to do. But it's worth every minute. I am sure you learned lots. And yes... less paint and brush beating. 😉
