Simple desert scene.
For this one I used linseed oil on the canvas and worked with some public domain art supplies at a local free art class.

awesome sky. the level of depth accomplished is stunning considering the minimalism of the design. I really like this one.

Love the scene, colors & simplicity!
Wonderful distance achieved with aerial perspective! nice abstract in the foreground to skip it and enjoy the beauty of the mountains and sky. This is full of air to me.
Thanks everyone.
Sunnylady, I spend a log of time roaming the desert at sunset and this is very much what the foreground looks like during the final moments of the day. My original reference photo had a big saguaro in the foreground and I feel it killed the atmosphere.
I did the mountains using the techniques I learned from Kevin Hill and let myself be free with the peachy/pink/red colors for highlights on the mountains.
It really gives that feel of last rays of sunshine and you did a great job to paint that foreground to pass that feeling.
I meant that I like how you did it because the entire painting to me is about sky, mountains and air in it and not about the foreground and the eye should not stick there for long.
I think your decision was awesome to remove the tree it gives a lot of air to the painting and highlights this is a desert scene.
