Original Creation

Winter Forest - Paul Clark

joha59 18 Jan 2025

The original of this lovely scene is in watercolor, so I first did the aquarel version on Arches paper of 29,7x21 cm (A4 format, second picture), today I tried it (again) in oil, my first attempt in oil was too dark, so I cut some branches in masking tape to save the white of the snow for the bush/tree in the middle and I did the snowbanks from the bottom (darker) to the top without a dark underlayer as Bob mostly does, on canvasboard 30 x 24 cm.

Great colours.
I love the atmosphere.
Even though this one is in oils, it does have a watercolour sort of look to it. Very nice.

Sehr schone Arbeit , Jos πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡³πŸ‡±

Lovely job! Isn't it satisfying when you do your version in a different medium to the original! I did my version of Vickor's "sunny morning" in oil instead of acrylic and it was so enjoyable. Your version of winter forest is so soft, the snow looks like cotton wool. Some great effects there.

Thank you Helen, Dirk and Titia for your nice comments!

Very pretty

Thank you Cold!

Wow! I'm amazed by this one Jos! My dream is to be able to make snow as soft as yours xD just wow!

Thank you Eduardo!
