I would love some advice on this painting in progress. It started out as a nice bright painting and went terribly wrong. I scraped and reclaimed the canvas with black gesso. The colors in the photo aren't nearly reflective of the actual, but its mostly prussian blue and just brought in some sap green.
My question is what to do with the foreground. Any suggestions?
Another peninsula perhaps
Yes I agree with Terry, maybe another peninsula with someone fishing or a small boat....or maybe a small animal..can do a silhouette even!
I think I agree with both Tel and Blondie. I've been looking at this all morning and I think a Bob style peninsula should finish it nicely.
I would say moon path and three different rocks in front gently highlife by the moon light. Not much accent or white/light values on those stones and moon path will take viewer into the painting. For moon path I suggest to research few old masters paintings to see how to do it gently and few photos of real thing.
Also no water lines on those stones with white color to keep front subdued. Otherwise the beautiful distant view will be lost.
Sorry for the typo earlier: *highlighted
I added the finished product. Photo isn't great. Thanks for the help all.

Nice. As for the foreground, I always struggle with trying to figure out what to do.
